the hypotenuse of a right triangle is 5 centimeters longer than one leg and 10 centimeter longer than the other leg. what are the dimensions of the triangle?​

Answer :

smaller leg be x

  • other leg=x+5
  • Hypotenuse=x+10

Using Pythagorean theorem

[tex]\\ \sf\longmapsto x^2+(x+5)^2=(x+10)^2[/tex]

[tex]\\ \sf\longmapsto x^2+x^2+10x+25=x^2+20x+100[/tex]

[tex]\\ \sf\longmapsto x^2-10x-75=0[/tex]

  • On solving we get x=15
  • x+5=20
  • x+10=25
