The city where I live stands on ground from which a tribe was removed to make way for settlement by European immigrants. If the native Americans had not been removed, my neighbors and I would not have this place to live. Or, we would be living among the tribe who permitted us to purchase the land. Jackson's policy of Indian Removal set a dangerous precedent for Europeans and their descendants feeling as if they had a right to take over the property of the Native American people as if they were not entitled to the same rights as the Europeans.
